The Monkey’s Paw is a well known Victorian Era story written by W. W. Jacobs in 1902. It was a story I’d heard around many campfires as a kid and has been one of my favorite stories since. It doesn’t surprise me that someone would want to make this into a genre film and in 2013, ChillerTV gave The Monkey’s Paw it’s own film adaptation.
On Episode 12 of the podcast, we covered the 1981 Slasher, Final Exam. To celebrate the Slasher genre, we all created a “Top Slashers” list. Since this “Best” list was so jam packed with titles, I’ve decided to split them up. Below is my list from the show. Look for Brian Saur and Brad Henderson’s lists over the next couple of days.
Around Episode 11 of the ScreamCast Podcast, Brad Henderson had the idea that we all contribute “Top 5” or “Top 10” lists during the show. Until now, we haven’t posted them because we wanted them fresh for the episode. From now on, we will take those top lists, remove the duplicate titles and post an all inclusive “Top List.”
On Episode 11, John Portanova (The Invoking) was our special guest and we covered Wes Craven’s insane DEADLY BLESSING. Here is our list of Top Wes Craven Films*.
The Slumber Party Massacre was a VHS that always teased from the video store shelf as I’d sneak into the Horror section as a kid while my dad would peruse the Science Fiction section. This forbidden fruit would allude me through High-school and college and I’d soon forget about the film and it’s subsequent sequels. Enter Shout Factory. Their Roger Corman Collection DVD release of The Slumber Party Massacre I, II and III were an immediate buy for me the day the set was released. Finally, after all these years I had finally caught up with these exploitative gems. Now, with Scream Factory’s Blu-ray release of the first film, we can see the massacre in all it’s hi-def glory from a newly minted print.
