Screamcast 128: 3 Year Anniversary Extravaganza

The Screamcast began with a half thought out idea by Sean back in 2014. As soon as the idea was floated out into the Twitterverse, Brad championed the idea and quickly fueled the fire of the podcast. 3 years later we aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. In this episode we celebrate the past 3 years by talking to a handful of our listeners, plus Sean, Brad and BJ bring you our Top 10 Movies Of All Time lists, and Josh Obershaw brings the news!

Thank you all for keeping us going. Your enthusiasm continues to fuel the show.

Short Film Showcase: The Farmhouse

I watch a lot of shorts. Tons. 70% of what I watch is garbage or not effective at all. Here is a short I found online that was shot by Ryan Camp over the course of 2 hours. It looks great and sets a very eerie mood and a great payoff at the end. Filmmakers, take some notes.

SplatterDay’s EditHORRORial with Mike D!…and a Vinegar Syndrome Exclusive(s)!

First up, a big, juicy, gore-filled CONGRATULATIONS to Sean, Brad, BJ, Josh, and the extended ScreamCast family for three years of liking movies for “what they are” and referencing a certain “The Burning” episode so often. I kid y’all but producing a timely show on the regular is no small feat, especially when varied geographic locations (and timezones…and drinking schedules) are taken into consideration. Really, you all rock and you’re doing great work for the horror community and physical media community at large; You’re keeping the conversation around genre cinema alive. Your shows stimulate folks around the world and fan fires across all the social media platforms. Don’t ever let that fire die.

VHS Cover Series: A Night At The Video Store: Part 3

I’ve been renting videos since I was little. My mom would let me rent pretty much anything in the store, but when it came to watching it I had to close my eyes for any of the “no-no” scenes. That’s what my mom called them when I was a little kid and it still makes me laugh. I perused the aisles for hours and I had multiple video stores we would go to. When I lived in Pennsylvania there was a Pool/Spa store that had a video rental section in the back; I don’t remember the name of the actual spot. When we moved to Florida there was a couple mom & pop stores along with a Blockbuster all within walking distance from our house. When I would visit Ohio for the summer, there was a chain called Video Time that I would rent from every 2 or 3 days. That said, I spent a good amount of time walking the aisles and seeing plenty of cover art to embed into my memory. In this series I’ll share with you a ton of box art that I remember and grew old with.
