Severin Serves Up Some Nunsploitation with DARK WATERS and THE OTHER HELL Blu-rays. In time for Easter, Too!

Not too long ago on the show, I mentioned that Severin Films were prepping a Blu-ray release of Bruno Mattei’s 1981 film, THE OTHER HELL (aka GUARDIAN OF HELL).

Today, Rue Morgue broke not only the details on that bit of nunsploitation, but also another one, Mariano Baino’s 1993 movie, DARK WATERS. Both films will hit Blu-ray shelves on April 11th, five days before Easter. That’s hilarious. And awesome.

According to the website, DARK WATERS:

“remastered from the original 35mm negative and THE OTHER HELL newly transferred from a 35mm print. Mariano Baino’s WATERS is about a young Englishwoman (Louise Salter) who attempts to discover her mysterious connection to a remote island convent, and unlocks an unholy communion of torment, blasphemy and graphic demonic depravity. Bruno Mattei’s HELL (originally released Stateside as GUARDIAN OF HELL) is described as “a surprisingly stylized yet undeniably blasphemous orgy of stabbings, stigmata, Satanism, sexual violence and graphic savagery,” scripted by TROLL 2’s Claudio Fragasso.”

The bonus material for DARK WATERS are:

• Audio commentary by writer/director Mariano Baino

• “Lovecraft Made Me Do It” featurette

• “Let There Be Water” featurette

• “Controlling the Uncontrollable” featurette

• “Deep Into the Dark Waters” featurette

• Director intro

• Deleted scenes

• Silent blooper reel with audio commentary by director Mariano Baino

• Short films of Mariano Baino (with audio commentary):

And the features for THE OTHER HELL will be:

• Audio commentary by co-director/co-writer Claudio Fragasso, moderated By Freak-O-Rama’s Federico Caddeo

• “Sister Franca”: Interview with actress Franca Stoppi (13 mins)

• “To Hell and Back”: archive interviews with director Bruno Mattei and actor Carlo De Mejo (11 mins)
