As promised on the show, it’s time to lay out some details on the upcoming Blu-ray release of the 1988 horror/comedy cult classic, ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK
This was actually announced all the way back in November, but news trickled in little by little over the last few months.
Here’s all we know so far:
- ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK is being released as a “Limited Dual Format 3-disc set” by German startup, Cinespectral Films.
- According to the official Elvira website, “the movie will be available as part of a collector’s edition 3-disc set: two Blu-rays (1 US and 1 Euro) and a PAL DVD. Purchasers of the 3-disc mediabook will have a choice between three variant front-cover designs: the original theatrical artwork, the promotional press kit artwork, and an all-new commissioned retro-inspired piece by German horror director Andreas Marschall. Each variant is limited to 1,000 units.”
- Bonus featured revealed on Cinespectral’s Facebook page include “Cassandra Peterson’s (together with John Paragon and Edie McClurg aaaaand recorded by director Sam Irvin) commentary track will be featured on the Blu-ray in sweat stereo 2.0 DTS,” as well as “two further all new exclusive commentary tracks!” In addition, there will be a retrospective featurette entitled, Too Macabre: The Making of ELVIRA, MISSTRESS OF THE DARK.
- Release date will be April 24th
